GRANNYS.

This brings back memories. Its our 'Senior Ladies Fellowship' which used to meet on a Thursday afternoon at our Church in Newtownards. We would meet for a Bible reading and singing and then have tea or in the cold days some soup. During the summer we would set of in the old bus here, there and yonder singing as we went and then park somewhere for tea out of Mrs Haire's big flask. Time has taken its toll and eight of the ladies in the photo have since gone home to be with Christ.

Apples of Gold in Pictures of Silver.

Brother Colin Maxwell, serving the Lord in Cork, has launched a new blog called 'Apples of Gold' Here is the description found on the blog itself ...

"A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. (Proverbs 25:11) The contributors to this blog are all active members of the Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster and have some fitly spoken words to say to the glory of God."

He has kindly invited me to join the group contributing to the blog and I look forward to seeing it up and going in the coming days.

TITANIC

The RMS Titanic leaving Belfast for sea trials, April 2, 1912

Northern Ireland's Most Famous Ship.
Situated at the bottom of the Newtownards Road in east Belfast, this Mural shows the Belfast connection with the famous ship.

The RMS Titanic was a British Olympic class passenger liner that became famous for her collision with an iceberg on 14 April 1912 and dramatic sinking on 15 April 1912. The second of a trio of superliners, Titanic and her sisters were designed to provide a three-ship weekly express service and dominate the transatlantic travel business for the White Star Line.
Built at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Ireland, Titanic was the largest passenger steamship in the world at the time of her sinking. During Titanic's maiden voyage (from Southampton, England to Cherbourg, France, then onto Queenstown (Cobh), Ireland and finally New York City), she struck an iceberg at 23:40 (ship's time) on Sunday 14 April 1912, sinking two hours and forty minutes later at 02:20 on Monday 15 April, having broken into two pieces at the aft expansion joint.

THE GOSPEL SIDE of ELVIS

16th August 1977
Elvis Aaron Presley ( 1935 - 1977 ). Today marks the 30th anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley. Many people remember the Rock and Roll Elvis or the Hollywood Elvis, but there was another side to him which has been documented in the dvd presentation called 'HE TOUCHED ME THE GOSPEL MUSIC OF ELVIS PRESLEY.
Here people who sang gospel music with Elvis tell of his great love of singing the gospel songs and relate personal experiences with him around the piano after his concerts where he would only allow gospel to be sung.
Heres a song I like very much ... IN THE GHETTO

Heres our trinity again with my Mum and her Dad Gary and Oscar. (Oscar is the wee doug!)

Precious Memories how they linger ...

On my way home tonight I drove down the Castlereagh Road in east Belfast and took a photo of this street. It is Isoline Street and i was just thinking that if I had not been saved and converted to Christ I probably would not know this street existed. Brother Colin Maxwell lived here with his Mum and Dad and what memories I have of tea in his home in this street. What fellowship, laughter and rejoicing. Good days. Praise the LORD!

PREACHED TODAY ....

MOUNT MERRION

Preached today in our Mount Merrion Church. At present they have no Pastor, but Rev. Jim Hartin was the Minister there for a good few years. Preached in the morning from Acts chapter 2, and in the evening from 2 Chronicles chapter 33 the Lord's dealing in the life of Manasseh. What a waster and yet God heard his prayer and cry for help! "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved".

SUNSET OVER SCRABO ... ABIDE WITH ME.

ABIDE with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide;
When other helpers fail, and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me!
